Completely unexpected...

After much consideration, I have officially and finally made the move over to typepad...

Hopefully that will be an easier link for me to pass around, and has really been needed since opening the new store in January. I am still getting everything set-up over there, but I am really liking it. I have BIG plans for some new regular postings, and am loving being able to configure categories.

This was something I have thought about doing for awhile now... I unexpectedly signed up today and kind of fell in love. :) So, please follow me on over to typepad.

Spring?

I am having a hard time feeling like spring is finally here. Our irrigation water has been turned on for a few weeks now, but the weather cannot seem to make up its mind... does it like 80 degrees better or 40 degrees? Today, it hailed for about an hour at the end of april!? Sooo bizarre.

Also, something that has been on my mind today. Why does the weatherman/weatherwoman always say partly cloudly? Why not partly sunny? In my book that sounds alot more encouraging, almost like looking at the glass half full instead of half empty. But, then again I suppose there are people out there that enjoy a good partly cloudy day. I am little more likely to enjoy one in the middle of summer when it brings a little hot sun relief. :) I took this picture to prove to myself that even if the weather isnt quite aware of it yet... spring is officially here. My tulips are blooming, even if they may feel like they are in the twilight zone. :)

I suppose the one good thing that has come from such unpredictable weather, is that it has allowed me to finally finish up a few sketches I started while in Oklahoma. The first being "Home Is Where Our Story Begins," I just listed it last night in the shop.

The other is almost finished, and was inspired by the current blooming magnolia trees. The third is an illustration inspired by this months Domino magazine... Sweet and Sour is the first in a series I hope to eventually add to. I ended up listing this one as well, but I promise more will follow. :)

Also, I *finally* updated my link list (located in the right hand sidebar) with my frequented stops online. Be sure and check them out, wonderful people, many with GREAT design tips. :)

In other EXCITING news: I have now sold over 100 items in my etsy shop! When I opened in January, I had not dreamed of reaching this goal quite so soon. To say the least I am thrilled! And to celebrate I will be holding a giveaway of my own tomorrow. You will only need to leave a comment to be eligible to win. My husband will randomly draw two lucky winners to win a free 8x10 print from my shop, any print of their choice. :) So... stay tuned! Home sweet Home...

Hello everyone! Boy, does it feel good to be home and not living out of a suitcase. We got back late sunday night, I had planned to post on monday.... but ended up feeling completely exhausted mentally and physically. I had a few orders placed while I was away so I made myself get those out yesterday. But mainly, I just spent the day in my p.j.s. I didnt even start doing the laundry until today! :)

Our trip was a ton of fun, going was a little harder on my physically then coming back... but all in all it was nice! I finally got to spend some time with those nieces of mine. Too Too precious. :) Each very unique from the other, I think they played VERY well together though. While in Oklahoma our last night there, we were hearing rumors about the storm of a century rolling through. Needless to say, I was a little nervous. It POURED, the thunder woke me (which was a surprise since I didnt think I slept all night) up three times, and the lightning was constant all night. Fortunately they tell me Tahlequah usually gets missed by the tornadoes because its more hilly. It did ease my mind a "tad." But, the wind was still not a pleasant sound. :) We live more in the southern part of Washington, so we do not get the rain that Seattle or the coast gets... so my husband always laughs at me when I classify a little rain as pouring. Having been through a rain storm in Oklahoma now.... I understand him. :) JUST that night the river rose 15 ft. and roads we needed to take were flooded. In ONE night! Wow... anyhow I dont know if I will jump at the chance to travel to Oklahoma in April again. :) I liked it when we drove out in May, much better calmer weather.

Although we did have some nice weather in the high 70's when the above picture was taken. We had walked across the street to this park after eating at Sam and Ella's restaraunt. My husband on the left, and his brother had to do a little showing off... boys will be boys. :)

This is the restaraunt we ate at. Sam and Ella's. Say it fast and it sounds like Samonella's. I was a little confused at the name, but inside they poke fun at the name. Decorating with chickens everywhere. It really was some GOOD food. Pizza and sandwiches. I was teasing my husband, and said only in Oklahoma could a restaraunt be called Sam & ellas and be good. :)

On the way there I also got this SUPER sweet motel sign photographed. We passed it on our last trip out to Oklahoma, and I never got a picture. Regretted it ever since. Now that I finally have it I already have plans to digitally tweak it, and add some of my own sketching to complete a print. :) Look for that in the next couple of weeks.

So, anyhow... I did finish my road trip journal. I need to take pictures of it still, and will probably end up dedicating a post this week just for it. It was a little more difficult to keep up on it this trip. I think it was harder for me to sit in one position long enough to complete a page... so I am not as thrilled with it as I was with my last one... but oh well! :) I still love that it is done, and documents almost ALL of our trip.

Also- To anyone that knows me... you know how much I have DREAMED about finally going to an Ikea store... I have the last three years of Ikea catalgues, and believe you me... they have seen some wear. Pages bookmarked, scribbled, and countless wish lists have been made. But, I can now finally cross that off my list of places to go. Hawaii and Ireland will have to stay on a little longer I think. ;) On the way to Oklahoma we seen this ikea off the freeway just outside of Salt Lake City, I very nearly jumped out of the moving vehicle. I was begging and pleading to stop by there on our way home... when we passed a Cabellas just a mile down further... bargaining power. Now, I would like to think my husband would still have made time for us to stop in Ikea even if for just a quick walk through (if that is even possible) BUT the Cabellas sealed the deal, and an agreement was made. So, on the way back we stopped in salt Lake City for a night and was able to spend a few hours in Cabellas and a few in Ikea. My poor poor feet. Bummer of it all, we went to Cabellas first. My feet were so soar, but I was not about to let that keep me from Ikea. The store was HUGE, and a little overwhelming. We spent the first couple hours in the upstairs showroom, before I realized the downstairs marketplace was the place to be... Oh well. The NEXT time I go, I am going to be prepared! :) We are planning to make a trip to our Portland IKEA (3 hours away) to get Trin a new loft bed, and the soon to be arrival a new crib. I think it is the best way to make use of that little room. I am super excited about decorating her room. I am setting money aside now, and hope to have enough in 2 weeks. :) Thats my goal as of now. Wish me luck!

EXCITING NEWS~ The tuesday we left, I got an e-mail from poppytalk telling me I had been accepted to participate in the Mothers Day/Kids themed Market beginning the 14th (yesterday) I was SUPER excited... I mean I still am! :) My table is up and running, and the market this month really looks great. I mean it always does, but there are some of my favorite artists participating, and am thrilled to be included. If you have never taken a peek at the marketplace, now is a great time... *wink...wink*

Whew... what a long winded post! One more thing before I leave... I hope to list the Carnival prints tomorrow sometime. I still have a few more pictures I would like to take, but for the most part they shouldnt take me long. I am sorry to have drug it out so long, I really planned to list them before we left on our trip. :)

We are Oklahoma Bound!

Yep, thats right.... we will be leaving tomorrow night for the big state of Oklahoma. We are driving, so it should be quite the road trip. The above picture was taken right on the border of Colorado 2 years ago when we made our last trip to Oklahoma. It was a LONG drive (30 hours from here) but we had SO much fun. I kept a road trip journal of the trip, and it really helped to pass the time. I just had a few supplies, mini scissors, mini stapler, a square stamp, a couple ink pads, a few pens, circle punch etc... nothing too extensive. I collected things from the trip, and completed page by page right on the road. It was SO rewarding to come home with a finished journal, and our trip already documented.

I already have the cover finished for this road trip, and am anxious to fill the book! I also bought a polaroid camera, and a couple packs of film. It will be so nice to be able to take a few pictures and add them directly into the book. :) I will be sure and share a few of my favorite highlights from the trip. :) Maybe I can find time tomorrow to share a sneek peek of my new book, and my previous book.

If you are planning a road trip, you really need to give this a try. It really helps pass the time, although your significant other may gripe a bit if he thinks your missing out on the scenery. Or at least mine did. :)

Many of you may be wondering WHY in the world are we planning a 30 hour long road trip across the country when I am 5 mos pregnant? Well, that is a very good question... but I do have a good answer! :) My husband's family lives in Oklahoma, and it has been 2 years since we took a trip out to see them. He comes from a fairly large family of girls, and it isnt nearly as easy to coordinate they're time off work/school etc. I have 2 new (well new to me!) nieces I am excited to see for the first time. One of them is my niece/cousin. Let me explain... My husband's brother married my first cousin! When they're baby was still pretty little, I heard she had a shocking resemblance to our little girl. I cant wait to get pictures of all the little ones together. :)

We DID consider flying, but it was going to be about the same price... and I hear flying actually isnt as comfortable when your pregnant... not being able to put your feet up, trying to "squeeze" in between the seats to make it back to that sardine can... um... bathroom. Besides, we also have family and friends in Colorado so getting to see them along the way is a bonus!

So, the store will be temporarily closed April 2nd- 13th. While I will still be able to check and (hopefully) respond to my e-mail/etsy convos, any orders placed will be shipped the day after I get back, Tuesday April 15th. We are taking Jaydons new laptop, but it appears as though Clearwire internet service is few and far between in Oklahoma... so I am not too sure if we will get service at his sisters. I can still check my e-mail via my cell phone, but I am not sure if I will be able to respond. If you need to get a hold of me, your welcome to try! :)

The packing is almost done, and the Avalanche is almost loaded. We went to the grocery store and loaded up on snacks, beef jerky, energy drinks, and frappucino's for the one allowed to have caffeine....and TONS of bottled water for me. Hoping that will save a little of money compared to buying something everytime we stop. As tempting as it is.

Hello Wednesday!

Wow... where did the weekend go? It seems as though it has been forever since I updated my blog. We took a trip to Eugene, OR for Easter. It was nice to get away for the weekend, and spend time with family and friends. The 5 hr. trip Friday night proved to be a little uncomfortable, but I think considering I managed. Our Avalanche has heated seats and full lumbar support, so that helped keep my pregnant self a little more comfortable. :) The trip home was fast, it rained a little... but for Easter sunday the traffic was great.

Slightly off topic, but Sharla from rarebirdfinds has written a review on vol25. It looks great, and I was so happy to see it today! :) Blog exposure of any kind is always exciting, especially when its a big one, I love to read... like rarebirdfinds.

Also, I have been working on that carnival themed series... still not 100 % done with these. I do still plan to make a few changes. The ferris wheel poster doesnt look just right to me yet, so some more work is needed. :) I thought you may enjoy a peek still. I am also still trying to think of a name for the series! I printed them out, and stuck them in these simple frames I have... after taking these pictures I realized they needed scooted over just a tad to the left, but rather then move them, I just decided to complete 2 more. :)

One of them is already finished and pictured below. I think it may be my favorite... the other is still very fresh in the works... but it will be coming! :) I intend to wait to list them until I have ALL of them completed. This way I will not waste time updating the listings when I complete a new set. After all, I am almost done! :)

A few new works, and a great feature!

I have been working on a new series of prints... and it appears as though I have fallen in love with yet another color scheme... aqua and orange. It first started with this print... "to find the perfect chair"

and continued on with a remake of an older print "listen"

Both of these prints are inspired by actual older buildings around my small town here in washington... I do have a few more in mind to work with and add to this series... which by the way, does not have a name yet, something that really needs done!. All the prints in this series will all have two things in common, possibly three.... older buildings, color coordination, and they will all have a sprinkling of these same little black birds.

Also, in other great news... I want to say many many thanks to Anne of a thing of beauty for not only taking the time to write and feature so many etsy artists, but for also including me in the mix of so many talented artists! On monday she published her post titled "100 great etsy artists you might want to visit"

She had taken the time to contact all 100 etsy sellers, and tell them ahead of time about the feature... so I was REALLY looking forward to reading it. I appreciate all the hard work and time that went into this post.

Anda of etsy also gave the blog post even more coverage by writing about it in the etsy finds of the day column. I subscribed to the e-mail feed back in january after a customer told me my "love is magical" print had been featured.

Anne covered SO many new artists I had never heard of before... I knew there was talent on etsy, I just didnt know how much. Thank you Anne!

- upcoming project- A carnival themed series! I stumbled across a few images I had planned to work with last summer... and just forgot about. After seeing them, I have been trying to think of what colors I would use... and am having a hard time really nailing down any certain colors. I plan to due these in a vintage theme, with the scratches, textures and faded colors. I may try and tackle them after I finish a couple more in this current series. Would LOVE to hear your ideas and input on colors, etc. :)

Happy St. Patricks Day! I made these cupcakes last night, and frosted this little guy today in honor of the green holiday. However... keep in mind this is no "ordinary" cupcake... it is the magnolia bakery's cupcake recipe. I normally gravitate towards chocolate cupcakes, but after reading the vanilla vanilla cupcakes were the more popular ones at the bakery, I gave in and made vanilla cupcakes. I was *not* dissapointed. They are really really yummy! I have been craving cupcakes something fierce the past few days, and finally made a batch from scratch. I admit to normally buying a chocolate cake mix, and baking them as cupcakes instead. Which are still very good... but not as good as these were. :) I also made their frosting recipe, which isnt actually a buttercream frosting, but still really yummy! Here are the recipes:

The Magnolia Bakery Cupcake Recipe

Preheat Oven: 350 degrees F Cupcake Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened.

2 cups sugar 4 large eggs, at room temperature

1 ½ cup self-rising flour

1 ½ cup all-purpose flour

1 cup Whole Milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Icing Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter,

softened 8 cups confectionary sugar (powdered sugar)

½ cup Whole milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

TIPS: If you have a stand mixer (like a Bosch, or Kitchen Aid) this recipe is much quicker to make. Using whole milk makes the taste of the cupcakes and icing much smoother. I tried using Skim milk and whipping cream just to test it out and whole milk makes a much better flavor.

Cupcake Directions

1. Whip butter until very smooth in texture

2. Add sugar 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth in texture

3. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating very well between each addition

4. In separate bowl, mix the 2 flours together

5. In separate bowl, mix Milk and Vanilla

6. Add flour mixture and milk mixture 1 cup at a time to Butter mixture. Beating very well between each addition.

7. Spoon into lined cupcake pan (approx. ¼ c batter per cupcake)

8. Bake for 20-22 minutes in pre heated over (350 degrees F) Cool cupcakes before frosting (or else the frosting will fall off) You can also make 3 – 9” rounds with cupcake batter. Just make sure you grease and flour each pan.

Icing Directions

1. Whip butter until smooth

2. Add ½ of sugar (4 cups), 1 cup at a time. Beating well between each addition.

3. Add Milk, and Vanilla

4. Add remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time. Beating well between each addition.

5. Add a few drops of food coloring to icing

6. Beat icing well, until good spreading consistency.

7. Over-beating is hard to do with this icing.

They arrived!

WOW! I was so surprised to see these in my mailbox today. They actually came pretty quick. They were packaged super sweet, and felt like a real treat opening them. Thanks so much heyprettycupcake! :)

As soon as I opened the package and these little gems came pouring out of the bag, I wondered why in the world I havent been collecting buttons? They are a perfect way for me to own some of my favorite artists' work. They are just so mini and cute. So, I think I may have taken up yet another collecting hobby. :)

The icing on the cake? It was sunny for about a half hour, and gave me enough time to snap a bunch of pictures. I think I may even have enough to complete the listing picture blocks. So, these just may be listed today after all.

I am going to leave you with these teasers, so I can get started creating the graphics for the listings. I just put trin down for a nap, and it is the perfect oppurtunity to get something done.

sneek peek

Hello everyone! Hope your getting through your friday, you only have just a little longer and the weekend starts!

Here is that sneek peek I promised... although it shouldnt look exactly like this when finished. There will be the addition of a reading chair, and also some titles on the spines of those books! I already have the image halfway through the digital process... so I should *maybe* be done today. But, I really doubt I will get to posting it until monday. I will be sure and post it here as always.

Hoping my buttons come in today or tomorrow, and for a little photographic sunshine! :) My mailman is not scheduled to be here for another hour... the suspense is killing me. I am also expecting a piece of tile to come through the mail system. I have a customer that I admire and respect 100%! They had just recently finished tileing (sp) their kitchen, and wanted to make sure a few of my prints would match the tile, asked to send a piece for my own comparison. I told them I could do better then that. I would scan it, and color match it perfectly. :) I can only imagine how beautiful of a house theirs must be. They promised to send me pictures after they are happily hung. :)

If they give the ok, I will definately post here for all to see! Well, signing off for now~

Do you squidoo?

So thank you to nostaligicnugget, I finally made time to sit down and set up my very first lense on squidoo. I think the first time I heard about squidoo was through the etsy forums. It seemed a little overwhelming at the time, and I never did sign up. I needed a gentle nudge and some spare time to get it set-up. There are a few things I would still like to learn how to change. Surely I can make my pictures a little bigger? But all in all it was super easy and very self explanatory. :)

On a different note, I had a customer contact me over the weekend. It resulted in a very great idea on her part. She had the idea of these three framed and hung together. Only problem was, the entry was currently only available in orange. I offered to do a custom color change for her at no extra cost. I love the lime colors in this print, and quickly listed it in the store. Thanks so much for the idea Kate!

So this morning I printed the three out, and was amazed at how well the silhouette and the entry worked together. I just may have to introduce them as a new print set into the shop. I am also working on a new companion print to the entry. From the beginning I had planned to do a series with seperate rooms, kind of like clue... the foyer, the library, the kitchen, the billiard room, etc... I have already started on the sketch for the second room in the series. Maybe I can show a sneek peek tomorrow.

Oh- I almost forgot! I also finally listed that batch of ACEO's I had been promising. They are now available and in the shop. One sold last night, if there is one you are eyeing you better snatch it up quick!

BUTTON UPDATE: They are not here yet, but I hope for them to come in today or tomorrow. I will let everyone know just as soon as they arrive on my doorstep.

Well, I am off the computer for now. My hubby is off work for the day, he came home about an hour ago. It was pouring, and not too much fun to work in today. So the crew took a vote, and decided to take the day off. :) Which is fine by me! I am going to cuddle up on the couch, with my clipboard in hand. Maybe I can get a few sketches done today.

Three's A Crowd

Hello everyone, I am returning from a weekend of hibernation... feeling a little groggy, but had to post this new piece. I titled it "Three's A Crowd" At the time I had intended on the third wheel to be them bright red boots invading on that sweet little bird's personal space. I think he may have finally found another bird he just may love a little more then himself. BUT, then I seen that daisy... and realized the daisy could easily be considered the third wheel as well. I suppose you can perceive the story however you wish. :)

Also: SUPER EXCITING NEWS! Theblackapple of etsy is considered the #1 top seller on etsy and JUST appeared on the marth stewart show this morning. She showed Martha how to make her blackapple dolls.... which were really sweet btw. I just wanted to give her a shout out and say congrats. etsy has been getting alot more publicity recently. The founder of etsy, Rob also made an appearance on her show last week. Isnt that great? I was reading the new statistics etsy just released for the month of february... and was SHOCKED.

New Items listed: 612,641. In January, there we 575,174 new items listed, so this is a new record and an increase of 7%. In February 2007, 148,422 new items were listed. Wow — 312% more than a year ago!

New Users: February saw 75,458 new users join Etsy, up from 68,013 in January — an 11% increase. In February 2007, 22,392 new users joined — a 236% increase.

Items Sold: We sold 349,092 items in February, an increase of 11% over January and a whopping 273,043 more than February 2007!

$ Sold: We sold $4.8 million worth of goods in February, 13% over January and $3.8 million more than February 2007.

New print set!

Newly listed and fresh in the shop! I hope you all enjoy. "we are shaped by our thoughts" has seemed to be an instant favorite for some of you. I am super excited to re-list, and see how many of you heart it. :) So, today I came up with a second print based along the same general thought pattern as "we are shaped by our thoughts" I titled this one, "the secret to becoming who we wish to be" The quote reads:

"the secret to becoming who we wish to be begins with believing you can become who you wish to be"

I now have all the packaging designed, printed, cut, and folded for the buttons. So, once they get here, it will not take me so long to get them up and in the shop.

I have *finally* gotten around to listing this original (love seat) I painted a weeks ago. I killed two birds with one stone and also managed to get in my new light. It is kind of hard to see just what it looks like in this picture, but you get a little bit of an idea? :)

It feels good to get this off my list of things to list! It seems that my inspiration came back all at once, and now I cant keep up. I have been feeling SO much better lately. I am a little over halfway through the pregnancy and I am so happy! :) Well, thats all for now!

Here is another project I have been working on. Just completed yesterday. I have been really inspired to work with these bold bright colors. This set seemed the perfect match, I hope you all enjoy. :) I just listed each print individually, and then listed the print set, so they are ready to go! Literally. :)

As you can see, I had a little fun with the set. I printed them mini-size last night and had fun displaying/photographing them. Maybe I should redecorate Trin's room? :) It is definately tempting... For some reason, I doubt Jaydon would be thrilled to hear I am once again inspired by yet another theme idea.

Hello World

Good morning all! Wanting to share with you this new little gem "Hello World" just listed in my shop. I finished it this morning, and it came together so perfectly. I had an idea in my head, and it actually turned out just as I pictured... which actually VERY rarely happens. :)

I love this so much, I am already brainstorming ideas for a matching print. I would really like to offer it in a print set. Also, look for it to show up in the shop in TTV format. The vintage feel of the TTV's really works great with the vintage-ness (is that even a word) this image already has. :)

Also, the buttons have been ordered! Thanks to the few that voted. I am going to do the drawing later tonight, and post the winner in the morning. :)

Yay! A new look for my blog, I hope you all enjoy the new format. I think it is a little easier to read. :)

Pretty please with sugar on top? I just added a new poll to the blog this morning. (top right sidebar) I have been planning to order some pinback buttons for quite a while now... and I think I just might end up doing it this time. But, which ones do I order first? I may order more then one set right off... but I suppose it depends on the results of the poll. So, you see... your vote counts! :)

Would you like to see them offered individually or in a set of say 3? I am leaning more towards a set of at least 3 coordinating buttons. New Art!

See what I have been working with all day? It started as a sketch, and took me all day long to finish. I can honestly say I am thrilled with how it turned out. I think my sore behind was definately worth the end result. :) I have three other pieces in the works, and cant seem to get either just right, and completed. I have been getting very frustrated with the whole experience, and decided to start fresh on this one... so glad I did! I just finished listing it the shop.

You may even recognize the art hanging on the wall, as "we are shaped by our thoughts." I am super happy to finally work it in. It did take quite a bit of rearranging, and numerous picture frames. :) I felt like I was redecorating a room in my own home. Which, was actually kinda fun.

Well, I was anxious to share this new piece with you. It is so bright and spring-ish, it makes me want spring even more then I did before. Which was alot anyhow!!! :) I Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

The other shop will have to remain a secret for now, that is until everything is official! ;) On another subject, remember the chandelier I snagged from Target? Here it is waiting to be installed in our bedroom. Turns out that they were the plug in type. So, jaydon informed me it will take a little more time to install, and a trip to HomeDepot. While I do believe him, I always find it amazing how often we "need" to drop in there. I need to take a few lessons from him, there has got to be a way for me to make a trip to michaels or craft warehouse a "needed" trip. :) So, anyhow every night I move the light from the bed to the floor, and in the morning it gets moved back to the bed. This morning it was catching the light from the window, and I HAD to take a picture. It is going to change our bedroom SO much when it gets put up. :)

For now, I suppose I can try and enjoy it on my bed... It could defintiely be worse! :) Today is absolutely beautiful! It is 58 degrees outside and sunny. I am going to try and get outside to do some magor cleanup damage to my garden. Wish me luck!

I got an etsy conversation from a previous customer of mine yesterday. She had asked how much it would cost to upgrade a print set she had been eyeing for a while now to the 11x14 size. It suddenly dawned on me, that I needed to make this a simple easy option for everyone. So, this morning I finished the graphics for the listing, and just now completed the listing itself. I added a new section to the store and titled it "upsize your print set purchase" I hope it seems fairly easy to understand. I am more then open for suggestions/feedback as to how I can make it easier. :)

Also added an additional bonus offer to all customers, 10% off coupons! I will include one of these with your order, just for taking the time to share how you found vol.25. Just yesterday I found out a customer had found etsy through a home decorating magazine, and then found me from etsy. It is always SO interesting to imagine how a customer happens across my art/shop. Not only is it interesting but also very valuable information, and helps me decide where best to advertise.

Well, the sun seems to be trying to peek through the clouds. I keep seeing occasional bursts of sunlight, and it really helps boost my mood. I could never easily live in a rainy location. I get so depressed when we have more then 1 rainy day. My whole outlook on life seems gloomy. Give me a day of sunshine, and everything seems better! Of course there is that downside that tends to come with having a sunlit house.... dust! It is amazing how dusty everything suddenly looks when those dust bunnies appear to greet the sun. :) I dont mind though, I think I will VERY happily grab my lemony dusting machine in a can... greet the sun and finally get some much needing dusting done. Hoping you have an inspiring day, and get the see the sun as well. Even if for only a brief moment. :)

New- End tables and art!

Since my birthday was officially yesterday, Jaydon finished putting together my side table, and file cabinet. :) I was so happy to have them set up in my living room. I have always heard a few simple, cheap changes can make all the difference in the style of your living room. New end tables, curtains, lamps, and of course an area rug of some sort always helps. :) If you look long enough you can snag these up at cheap prices. I have had the best luck finding these key items at Target on clearance even! I promise to take a full shot of my living room just as soon as we get a little more sun. I hear it is forecasted for tomorrow, so hopefully I will be able to take a few.

Dont you just love the little guy in the photo below. My parents bought me this bird, and I think he looks so sweet next to "fatal attraction." He sits there and stares at them all day long... almost as though he is jealous of the love they feel for each other. :)

Here is the new art I mentioned earlier. "The Spark Of Love" is somewhat of a spinoff from "the power of love" you may remember me finishing back in January. I think I may add a version with the text. "Love is the spark that powers our world" Still undecided for the moment though. Also open to other color options, feel free to leave me any suggestions! :)

A shift in direction...

I have to admit, I have taken somewhat of a shift on my current project. I decided that instead of working on the baby book, I needed to work on a pregnancy book. :) I have planned to do this for a while now and decided since I am finally at the halfway mark in my own pregnancy. I really needed to get it finished! :) So, here are a few teasers to wet your appetite with. It is meant to match the baby book, because I intend to sell these seperate and as a set.

I have just uploaded all the pages to lulu publishing, and am in the process of trying to figure the whole process out. Generally when I have made a baby book, I have printed it myself and then taken it in to get spiral bound and the covers laminated. But, I recently began searching the internet for other options. lulu seems to be just what I need, if I can figure the binding and cover options out. Has anyone reading this used lulu? What was your experience? Or maybe you have another suggestion for me to try out?

Currently the book is about 24 pages, 12 front and back. I think I would prefer it to be spiral bound since it makes writing easier then with a hardbound book. What do you think?

On a different note, I also finished my first silhouette titled "we are shaped by our thoughts." Yet one more project I can cross of my list of things to finish! :)

TTV Prints are back!

Some of you may remember when I introduced my art digitally tweaked to get the TTV (through the viewfinder) effect. I loved the look, but had yet to use the technique with some of my new work. So, this morning I decided to spend some time doing just that. I love that I can completely change the feel of my favorites, with this effect. :)

I have already added four of these into the store, and am just about ready to add the TTV print set listing. I plan to TTV quite a few more in the next couple weeks... but if there is a particular print you would like to buy now, just let me know. I will get right on it for you.

Target Shopping TIP for all you faithful Target Shoppers/droolers: Target is clearancing (sp?) their global bazaar pieces. I was SO happy! I had been eye balling a chandelier for our bedroom, but couldnt bring myself to pay the 129.00. Friday night my sister in law was ever so kind as to inform me of the big sale... which meant a definite trip to the Target. And sure enough, they were 50% off. Which made me feel VERY justified in finally picking up a light for our bedroom. After all we have had nothing but a super stylish plain bulb for about a year now. :) We even snagged Trinity a similar one, but just a little smaller.

--- Wait! Theres more!! The big news, as part of an early b-day present... I finally got new end tables for our living room. Because the weekend was so busy they arent assembled yet. But, I will most definately be posting pictures as soon as we get them together. :) They were perfectly what I wanted, and on sale for 80.00. I got a little funky/brave and agreed to get the end table and matching file cabinet. They match, and I figured it might be neat to have two different pieces. Not too sure how I will feel about it when it is assembled, but my hubby really wanted the file cabinet... so being the good compromisable wife that I always am... I said "yes honey." Will keep you updated on that as well!

Also, good thing I cleaned my house Friday. We ended up getting a bunch of company for the weekend! :) Some friends of Jaydon's stopped through on their way back to CO. and a few friends of mine also stopped in for the weekend. I am telling you... its a great habit! ;)

Happy late valentines day! I hope everyone had a great day, spent with someone special. Whether it be your siginificant other, friends, or even your mom. :) We had a nice evening. Just stayed around the house. We plan to go out sometime this weekend, when my parents are free to babysit. Hopefully by then the resteraunts will be a little less crowded. :)

Well, here is the original I posted pictures of in progress a few days ago. It is not listed in the store yet, probably not for a few more days. Since this canvas was 12x16 it was a TON more work then the smaller 9x12 I have been working with. Still somewhat new to working with watercolor paints, but I have to say I am really liking it! I am learning a few new techniques, and would sometime love to take a class. I also am wanting to work with acrylic sometime in the near future.

I also was super inspired last night and created another watercolor painting. I titled it "we make a happy family." I love love it to pieces. I debated on keeping it, but am MAKING myself say goodbye. After all, I get attached to every original.

I have two blank canvases left from my trip to Tri-Cities monday, and they are begging to be filled. I think I might need to hide them. That is, if I ever plan to get anymore done on that baby book. :) This painting is already listed in the store, but the print will be listed later today, and limited to 50 copies.

Well, I know I have something important I should be doing. Like maybe cleaning my house... especially since it is Friday. I have found it to be a very good habit to have my house clean by the weekend. Just in case we get unexpected company. Of course that doesnt happen very often, but still... it IS a good habit that I need to work on a little more! :)

Wow, I am really doing good today, two posts in one day. :) I think I deserve a cookie. Anyhow, I thought I would give you a sneek peek at my latest watercolor painting. I figured instead of using the hair dryer to speed up drying time, I would take a moment and post you a couple pictures. I am super excited about how it is turning out, and wanted to share!

I am really trying hard to resist the urge to use greens in this one. So, I have decided to give your eyes a break from all the green, and add some blues to this painting. Nice little change I think!

New product in the works!

Hi all! I have been super excited to get started working on a baby book using some of my more popular prints on vol.25. Today I finally started page one. It took me ALL morning to find a composition I thought worked with the popular "love you" print. It kept getting busy looking, and I decided keeping it simple really was best.

So, Vol.25 should have at least one baby book listed in the store by mid-march. After I get a little further into the project I should be able to give an exact date for release. I imagine the books to have laminated front and back covers, and spiral or comb bound. I think I prefer the comb binding, as you can add pages if needed.

I have SO many theme ideas I would love to try out in a baby book. Seeds of Freedom is also a very popular print, and I would love to incorporate that allium flower into a purple or even yellow baby book. I also have some carnival images I have been itching to work with. Wouldnt that make a super sweet book?

Anyhow, I started with this green themed book in hopes it will work for boy or girl. Since the gender of our baby will be a secret till he/she is born. :) I would love to have a girl themed book done by my due date, but just in case... this one should work.

On a different note, a customer of mine sent me these pictures. The prints look great framed and hung in their new home. It is always so exciting to see my art in their new enviroment. :) Thanks jill, they really do look great.

I also forgot to show you all this new original listed in my shop, titled "Lime Light". I also decided to offer it in a very small limited run of 25 prints. Hopefully this will allow a few more people the oppurtunity to own it.

New print sets

Hello all! Been busy around here. My brother and his wife came in for a couple weeks! It was a ton of fun having them around. They currently live 5 hours away, and it is just too far. :) Trin really enjoyed spending time with her Uncle Roman, and I think she picked up some new phrases from her aunt Shaela. She is now saying "by the way" in her sentences, and saying "actually" She talks so big for a three year old. She had so much fun with them, and we were sad to see them leave. :( But, I did manage to squeeze in some time and get some new stuff done! Shaela helped me modify "Home Sweet Home" to match my living room. It is now available in a perfect green complete with damask wallpaper.

She also helped me get the colors just right in this new illustration, Love Showers inspired by the upcoming holiday, Valentines Day.

Last week I added a new piece to the shop, and also completed another print set. Seeds of Freedom has been a very popular print, and I wanted to finally complete the second piece. :) So, here it is! Freeom Carried on the Wind.

We also added 2 new additions to the family, "flounder" and "tricky" They are a really cute pair of goldfish. I was going to get just one, but they looked so sweet together in the aqaurium.... almost like they were life long partners and would grow old together. So, we got them both. :) I definitely would have had a few other names in mind... but Trin actually came up with these on her own, and who could say no to that. They are definitely inspiring me to create a collage using them. It should be super fun, so look for that soon. Maybe something with a zen feel/look.

I think spring may finally be on its way! Its 50 degrees outside, and I think a walk into town is a must. I cant wait to start planting my garden. :)

Its still winter...

I am so ready for crisp spring mornings, the smell of the tulips, and getting to plant new seeds in my greenhouse. I can hardly wait for the feeling of the warm sun on my back. BUT, it appears spring is a looong way away. See what we woke up to yesterday morning? About 4" of snow. By the time the day was over, we probably had about 9". Oh and that is (as promised) a picture of our new to us 2002 chevy avalanche. Jaydon is trying to brush it off so we can make it to church. We ran into a slight problem, and ended up being a half hour late. See, the ice scraper was in the shed, and the snow was super deep at the door of the shed, and the snow shovel was somewhere in the yard covered in snow. :) So, we had to wait super long for the ice to thaw off the windshield... and it seemed to take forever. Anyhow, at least we made it! :)

We still had fun though, Jaydon, me, mom and dad pulled Trinity and Jada down town on 2 sleds. There were about 3 tractors around trying to plow the roads.

It was sunday, so our little town was pretty quiet. It definitely felt like a winter wonderland. A few of the local businesses had even closed for the day. Fortunately there was no wind, so it felt fairly good outside. It was still snowing on us, so it made taking pictures somewhat of a challenge... but it wasnt too bad. :)

We did a little walk around town and figured the girls probably needed to warm up. Even though they were not ready... A quick bribe of hot chocolate did the trick, and definitely helped make them a little more manageable!

Of course with that much snow, we had to make snow ice cream. I was able to whip up a batch in my new kitchen-aid. (Which btw was one of my christmas gifts from my husband! :) I was sooo surprised. Been wanting one before we even got married, but was determined to hold out until I could buy the super nice one, that will handle large batches of bread dough. It has a 7 quart bowl and I ssoooo love it!) I have to admit the second batch (chocolate) was so much better then the first. Which worked out quite nice since dad and Jaydon filled up on the first batch of vanilla! ;)

Well, I hope spring does in fact come soon... but I suppose I can try and enjoy the snow a little longer. :) This morning I was in for another surprise to see "my love" on etsy's homepage. It was a great collection of one of my favorite colors... green! Definitely a homepage I was proud to be a part of. :)

Also, I completed another piece today! I have been meaning to do something with this orchid I drew months ago... I wanted a slightly more abstract look and was so happy with how this turned out. I think it would look great printed borderless on 13x19" paper, and hung like a poster! It just may have inspired me to offer a borderless 13x19" size to my "shop by size section." I will be adding that to my list of things to do. :) I wonder if it would look better printed large on the canvas or on photo paper? Hmmm... I may have to experiment with that.

Vol.25's Grand Opening was a small success. It has been a week now, and we have already made it to the home page, been recognized in etsy's find of the day this morning, and already been hit up with potential advertising from a very well known blog. In addition to that, I have been thrilled to see each and every new heart I get. It is amazing how much more I appreciate those little things now that I had been reduced to 0. :) Surprisingly in one week we have grown to 122 hearts. I think it took me a couple months to get my first 100 with SparksFly.

Finally-the big news

Well, I am officially 3 mos. pregnant now! Baby #2 is on its way. I wanted to finally share the news with all of you, it has been hard wanting to go anywhere near the computer. Morning sickness, has definitely been a little more often this time around then with trin. But, we are thrilled. :) So, now you all know why I have been so slack in keeping up with my blog. I have been feeling better lately, so hopefully I will get better about it! :)

Yesterday was a nice surprise, to find "Roses Among Us" on the homepage. I was thrilled actually, since the new store just opened... some extra exposure was certainly needed. :) It led to a sale, and another amazing oppurtunity! I will be sure and fill you in when it gets a little closer, and I get a little more information. It promises to bring alot of exposure to vol.25!

What is in a name?

Apparently quite a bit. In my last posting I mentioned a possible shift in direction for SparksFly. It has been decided, and the new shop is now registered, but currently empty. Thursday January 17th is the official Grand Opening, and I promise to not dissapoint... so the store will open with a few good offers that I hope will be too good to pass up. :)

I drove myself crazy, not to mention my mother and loving husband trying to come up with a name for the new store. A name means so much, it is after all, an immediate first impression. I think I stressed way to much over this, and caused myself some agonizing headaches before finally settling on vol.25. The name signifies chapter 25 in my life, the age I am when I officially and legally launch vol.25. I am excited to get everything rolling, but will miss the feedback/hearts I worked so hard to achieve. I remember being so thrilled to get my 100th heart, and even more thrilled when I received my 1,000th!

I am certainly nervous about possibly leaving behind so many wonderful customers, and hope that the move across the street in etsy land, will not be too great of a challenge. Yesterday I went to work designing the new packaging for vol.25. I was so excited to get a new look going. I tried to still keep some of the same elements from SparksFly (hence the woodgrain) but changed it up just enough that I feel it is fresh and new.

I also "finally" began work on the shop by size section of the store. You can now easily purchase an 11x14 sized print without having to contact me for a reserved listing. The 8x10 will also be listed in that same section, to make things easier. I have had this section listed in SparksFly empty now... for about 2 months. It feels so nice to finally "deliver" and have it ready to be added this thursday!

In addition to the "shop by size" I also have my first print set ready to be listed thursday as well. This section has also sat empty for a couple months, and will now be available! :) Instead of buying 2 prints at $20.00 a piece, you will be able to buy the two matching prints for $35.00 and pocket the extra $5.00. I hope it will simplify things for a potential customer.

I hope the new year has brought in a fresh new start for you as well. I don't have any huge resolutions to try and stick with this year. If I had to choose one, it would definitly be to stay a little more organized! It seems I can never stay organized long enough to... well... STAY organized. :) Good intentions are certainly there though!

Finally a spark of inspiration...

Whew! I finally made time to find some inspiration for a new piece of art. I love how well everything came together on this one. I am adding it to etsy now. I am sitting in the kitchen, here at the trusty computer, giving Jaydon all the time in the world to wrap my presents. He tends to get creative with the wrapping. He never ceases to amaze me. Since he started wrapping presents; I have done my dishes, finished "the power of love," listed it, and am now taking the oppurtunity to update my blog. :) I love my sweet hubby, and every little thing he does for me. The first present he brought in had a little christmas tree made out of paper, and a square present (also made from wrapping paper) underneath the tree. I am most definitly going to have to take a picture of it in better lighting.

I hope everyone is having a stress free holiday season! This year will be a little different for us, instead of going over to mom and dads on Christmas morning, we are having the family all over here. It should be somewhat cozy with all 11 of us in our little 900 sq. ft. home. :)

I *think* I am going to take a huge plunge in January, and transfer SparksFly to a new storefront space on etsy. Fresh with a new name and new look. Ever since I introduced my artwork, and quit designing packaging I have thought about starting fresh. Of course there are definitly disadvantages to doing so, and that is why I have not already done it. BUT, I really do think it would be best for me in the long run. I will certainly keep you all posted, and I welcome comments/suggestions. The new name is still in the works... I have to find the perfect fit/logo.

Well, I must make use of my kitchen time. Trinity is telling me she is starving. A new word she picked up from me... ugh. Poor child, there is just something pitiful about 3 year old telling you she is starving when her last meal/snack was only an hour ago. :) I think tonight it is frozen pizza, with snacks curled up by the fire later in the evening.

To all my loyal readers out there still checking in... (even though its been forever since I have updated!) I would like to say thanks. :) We have been so busy, we finally got mom and dad moved out of their 3,000 sq. ft. home. 10+ years in one house, 3 kids, and 3 weddings can sure allow you to accumulate alot of "stuff." The snow and pouring weather really didnt help!

It was a huge job to get it all moved, so we are SO glad to have it all done. Mom and dad have been staying the week with us, and it has flown by. It has been nice having my mom here. I feel as though I have a live in babysitter/housekeeper. :) Of course since Jaydon and my dad work together, that has worked out nice too! It looks as though they finally found a fifth wheel (in Grants Pass, OR) and will be leaving tonight to pick it up. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. ;)

So, aside from moving... we finally made time to "officially" celebrate Trinity's third B-day. There was only a handful of people able to show up, but I think she still had a great time. I think planning a birthday this time of year will always be inconvenient. :)

I have also hit somewhat of a dry spell creative-wise. I have had no drive or inspiration to creating anything new, and have to "make" myself sit at the computer. I suppose I havent been trying to push myself much, and have been enjoying taking a little bit of a vacation. I am still fulfilling etsy orders left and right, but I feel like I am running my etsy store part time instead of overtime. :) Definitly been enjoying my christmas music and also reading a good book. I finished "The Golden Compass" and the second book, "the subtle Knife", and have just started the third book "the amber spyglass" They have been really good!

Well, I have plans to make salmon for dinner, and will try to share the recipe sometime these next few days... it is delicous. I got the original recipe from my aunt kay... but when i couldnt find it, I had to look the internet over for a similar recipe. I suppose I will mix and match my ingredients, and let you know how it turns out. :) If you love salmon and cream cheese, this one wont be a dissapointment. It is great for feeding company, seems fancy and yet it is sooo easy!

Well, my little brother tied the knot this last saturday! It was a pretty wedding, and had its share of stressful moments. But, would a good wedding honestly be complete without a few?! :)

They will be here to spend Thanksgiving with us, and we are so looking forward to it! Hot turkey sadwiches and leftovers galore! Although, I must admit... our family tends to make more dessert then "real" food. Generally a pie or two per person. :D Thats awful isnt it?

I am most excited about the day after thanksgiving, (no not because of all the crazy busy sales) but, because the radio's start playing christmas music! I can finally string my christmas lights, and we can put up our fake tree! :) Hot chocolate by the fire, and eggnog... yummy!

UPDATE: The large canvas paper is in, and so are the postcards! I just need to make some time to get the listings complete. :) Hopefully this week.

Sneek Peek #2 and gift certificates!

They have arrived! Fresh off the printing press... I am so thrilled with how they have turned out. I am super anxious to list them, but am going to need to wait for my "best morning light" to take pictures. :) HOWEVER, they should be listed tomorrow afternoon. I will be sure and post here when I do get them in my store.

I also just listed my first gift certificate. I plan to also list one including an envelope, and small card. For those that would like a little more of a premium presentation. :) However, I still have not added the "Royal Treatment" to the shop yet. I should hopefully have it listed today though.

Well, it is lunch time and I am absolutely starving! :)

13x19" Canvas on the way...

Hello everyone! I wanted to let you all know that I am finally making the HUGE initial investment, and purchasing the same canvas as seen above, but it a larger format... 13x19 to be exact. Which means I will now be able to print any print up to 13x19" on canvas. No more photo paper!

I have had a few requests for prints in the 11x14 size... but my potential customers were always a little dissapointed to see that it would not be printed on the same canvas paper shown in all my listings. This canvas really is the best I have found. I have shopped around, and tried a few different brands, before finding (and falling in love) with this particular paper.

The stuff I have ordered is the same brand as what I am using now, but claims to be waterproof, so we will have to see about that. :) It is scheduled to arrive next monday. I expect to have the "shop by size" section completely utilized by wednesday. This will make it much easier to purchase the larger format size. I will give an update when everything is finally in place. :)

Floating Through Love

Hey there! So, I just finished these little guys up yesterday. It is a bit different then what I usually create? But, I really like how it turned out. Mom pointed out, that I must have subconsciously created this piece because Jaydon had went out of town for the night. Its funny, because I must have. :) We do not usually spend nights away from each other, so when he does have to leave, its weeeird. Trin and I went over and spent the night with mom. Partly because I was not the most comfortable staying overnight without Jaydon, but mostly because we had a fun girls night planned! :)

Jaydons back now... and I think he appreciated this new one. :) I hope everyone has a nice sunday planned. Dont forget to change your clocks!

Trick or Treat!

We had extremely rare weather for Halloween this year. It was perfect sweater weather. :) No breeze, no rain... but a perfect chill in the air!

Trin and Jada really enjoyed themselves. We just took them up a block and back down the other side, but it was just enough houses for these two. They held hands and walked together. Which made it very awkward. After all most of the pathways were meant for one person, not a train. :) mom and dad and Jaydon and I both took turns holding the girls' hands'.

By the last house, they finally had it down. They were saying trick or treat, and thank you all by themselves. :)

"Tunes" in 3 new colors!

So, I have finally gotten around to offering "Tunes" in a few new colors. BUT, It is still possible to have me customize the 2 colors for you. But, I know there are alot of people out there, that do want to take the time to send me a conversation asking me to customize a piece (I really dont bite I promise! :) So, I am going to try and get around to eventually offering it in the store showing several different colors. I know that nobody likes to decorate exactly like the Robinson's next door! :)

So, anyhow... new colors (in addition to these) will be arriving sometime... hopefully soon. :D

Thanks so much for all the positive feedback on the christmas postcards. It really makes me happy! :) I am going to try and list them in several different quantities to allow each person to get just the right amount they need. I am debating on offering envelopes with them? I Would love any feedback on this though... Maybe I could offer some with, and some without?

Christmas Postcards- update!

Well, I promied a sneek peek on the christmas cards, and here it is. This is the first design. I think I will test the waters and see how well they do. Next year I will be more prepared, and have a few other designs ready a little earlier.

I am in the process of ordering them right now. They will be glossy, and super thick! I *hope* to have them listed super late next week. :) I guess we will see how fast their travel time is.

I loved this print so much, I wanted to make it a little less seasonal... so "Longing" was born. :) I hope you all like it. I am adding it to my etsy store right now, in a few mins. you should be able to click the picture or here for a direct link!

We had freezing temperatures in the night, and because of it our leaves are dropping like crazy! You can't even see our grass. As soon as Jaydon comes home, we will be taking Trin out to play in the leaves. It is so beautiful outside, everything is covered in a golden blanket, and the sun has such a warmth!

I finally made time to finish a new piece! :) It feels so nice to finally complete an idea I have had in my mind for weeks. It always gives me the warm fuzzies when I sell it for the first time...It is so rewarding. One of the many reasons why I enjoy creating new pieces.

Fall favorites

I normally dread winter, and am a spring/summer person ALL the way. This year, though I am really enjoying fall, and even looking forward (just a little) to winter. :) Its no wonder, with each new fall season I have had an extra little blessing in my life! Getting married to the man of my dreams and moving into our first home together, a year later the birth of our little girl, 2 years after that the purchase/move to our current home, and this fall the sale of our first home together.

Fall is so gorgeous in our new neighborhood. Our streets are lined with the most beautiful, biggest trees imaginable! Trin and I made halloween sugar cookies a few days ago. This is the first year she has really been able to get excited about the holidays. She really enjoys recognizing a pumpkin when she sees one! :)

I also found these super cute window clings at target. I think I paid 2.50 for them. I have really great memories of my mother using halloween window decorations. There was a witch, pumpkin, and a ghost. They had that black fuzzy stuff mixed in with color. I would love to find a modern day variation of these decorations! But, until then these window clings will have to suffice. Trin does seem to enjoy them anyhow!

Our 4 Year anniversary!

Yesterday was our 4 year anniversary. It seems so hard to believe it has already been 4 years. We stayed in and celebrated with Trin. Trin is spending tonight with grandpa and grandpa... so we will get to go out and have no curfew! :)

Here is our story: We met in Grand junction Colorado at a mutual friends BBQ. Since I had to fly back to Washington two days after meeting him, we talked on the phone ALOT... he flew out 2 weeks later and spent a week here in Washington. He asked me to marry him on July 3rd. Just three short weeks after meeting each other.

We had a 3 month long engagement, and tied the knot on October 18th 2003. :)
We both felt that if we knew we were meant for each other why wait? Its been great! We have our differences, but are perfect for each other. He balances me out, and I him. :)
...I just hope my daughter doesn't do this to me! :)

"Romeo and Juliet"

"Love was never promised to be easy." So true as in Romeo and Juliet's case. These two have similar issues... lets just say family reunions dont go over so well. However, these two pull through the hard times and are still together to enjoy the good times.

I think this print is a reminder, that every relationship will endure they're storms... but that the calm after the storm is so much worth sticking it out together! :)

Well, I had SUCH a hard time trying to decide which variation of this print to list on etsy. SO, I finally decided to offer all three. :) Now, the choice is up to you! I hope you enjoy them all!

Well, today it has been windy and rainy! We rarely get rain, so when we do... I generally do enjoy it. So long as it doesnt last longer then 2 days. :) Our front yard is COVERED in leaves! It is amazing what a little wind can do for one's yard. Between the yucky black walnuts, and the leaves.... Jaydon has been busy! I really should help him a little. Maybe today Trin and I will go outside and rake some of them up for him. Well, it is the thought that counts right? And I mean I did *think* of doing it. I am sure he will appreciate that just the same! ;)

I finally am able to check this off my list of things to do. I have been itching to design my own gift tags this year. Well, I finally did it. :) Every year I always end up using a green very similar to the above present. What is it about the green that I love so much? I have no idea! I just realized I even painted my kitched a very similar green. Hmm, it may be time for me to broaded my horizons... step out on a limb. ;) I am excited to get started on a few new designs, but so far I am really liking how these turned out. New Art!

Ok... so I have been busy! It seems like when I have one idea, at least two will follow suit! I suppose it only makes sense that when I am "inspirationly" lacking I am REALLY lacking. :) It is all a reminder to me that when it truly does rain, it pours. :)

So, here are a few of my new etsy additions.

"Love is magical" (above) Was created with much love. It brought back so many memories as a child. My days were spent daydreaming about unicorns, and putting holes in the knees of my pants. Trying to get the perfect horse gallop "just right". *sigh* yes, life is so much simpler when your a kid. This print will forever remind me of those days, and bring a little more simplicity to my life. :)

"Home Sweet Home" Is the second in a new series titled "Sitting Pretty" featuring furniture; everything from comfy, firm, modern, to retro, tradional. With my favorite feathered friends almost always making an appearance in each piece.

"Make Yourself Comfortable" is another addition to the "Sitting Pretty" series. In addition to the two seen here, I have two more in the works. Look for them to pop up in the next couple of weeks! :) The original to one is already listed in my etsy store. The original to "make yourself comfortable" should be up within the week. :)

I came across this etsy store a few weeks ago. "One Up Wall graphics" has a very professional feel/look to their etsy store, and I was immediately impressed. Now, had I have had a little extra spending money... I would already have at least 4 of their designs gracing my living room walls. *sigh* Oh well, I suppose good things come to those who wait. We are STILL waiting for the sale of our trailer to close, once it does... you can bet I will be filling my online shopping cart!

I have mortar walls throughout most of my home, so I was super excited to see that they will send a free sample for you to try on your walls. I am most certainly going to take them up on that offer! Where have I been?

Wheeew.... almost a whole week away from my blog! I must admit, life has been a little busy... but I HAVE had time to update. I suppose I have just chosen to spend my time doing other things. There has been a few things happen in my life these past couple of weeks, that has reminded me just how short life really is. It has caused me to examine just how much time I have been spending doing my "fun things" here on my computer... just a little more then I would like.

So, I have been enjoying taking a little bit of a vacation from blog land. I think I may spend a little less time keeping everyone updated on my family, and a little more time with my family. :) So, rather then trying to post every other day... I may go just a tad bit longer. Of course, this will be a struggle for me... because I do enjoy blogging. I have just come to appreciate those precious minutes with my family a little more.

Well, we had Shaela's shower this weekend. It was really great. A few friends came in from out of town for it. I was even fortunate enough to have a friend spend Friday night with us. We stayed up a little after midnight visiting, and getting caught up on each others lives. :) Having most of your friends live hours away is rough at times!

ALso- I applied a few weeks back to get my work accepted on http://www.trunkt.org/ and good news! finally... a new addition!

Ok, so I must admit... I have hit an inspiration drought. It seems like the past week I have really enjoyed my time away from the computer. I have started 6 different pieces of work... and cant seem to get them just the way I like them.

Well, this print "te amo" (which means i love you in spanish) is finally just the way I like it. I have done a few different color variations, but I think I like this one the best. :) For those wondering, there is an actual El Caporal. And let me tell you, they make the best mexican food! If you have one in your area I urge you to try the colorado burrito. It is so good. :)

Well, with that... I need to leave you with a very short post... and get started on dinner for my family! Although, I would much rather pick me up a burrito!

Harvesting Tomatoes...

I grew a ton of tomatoes hoping to make salsa. Well, today mom came over and we picked all of the ripe ones. I had no idea I had so many! It was a pleasant surprise though. The top right picture is Roma tomatoes, and those all came from the same plant. I have not hardly done anything to these at all. I am most definitly giving the credit to the peat moss I mixed in with the soil. I also did raised beds, and I hear that really helps the plants. :)

Next week we plan to make the salsa. If you have a great recipe, I would love a link! I have one I have been planning to try, but I am most certainly still open for suggestions. :)

Here is my newest addition to my etsy store. The doll was made by projectgrabbag, and is part of our collaboration together. She made me 2 dolls, 2 pirates, and 2 mushrooms to photograph, draw etc... This is Keiko, the other one you have seen in my art is named Emma. :)

I am getting to keep one of the dolls, and we werent sure which one it was going to be... but I think Trin decided for us. She has gotten attached to her first doll ever... and it is this one. Keiko. :) She has been changing her diaper, and begging to take her shopping with us. :) I finally caved, and let her take her to Home Depot. She got to be buckled in, so I figured she was safe. :)

I printed and hung this print on her wall, it looks so good against her pink walls. I definitly plan to do a matching companion print using Keiko. :) I think I already know JUST what I will do! But, you will have to wait to see! ;) Have a great thursday everyone!

Shadow's new crush...

So, this is our kitty Shadow's new crush... It would appear as though the feelings are mutual. I suppose we will have to see, I can only imagine the marriage counseling they would need... :)

New furniture!

I am so excited! I havent posted about this yet, because I wanted to make sure things were for sure going through... but it looks like we have finally sold our trailer! The paper work is with the title company, and while we do not have an exact closing date... it is being processed. :) It was hard to sell our little trailer, it was just a 73 Tamarac on a city lot. But, it was our first place together, and will always seem special. :) I will try and dig up some pictures!

The guy buying it is a contractor, so the trailer is being moved and a new house will be going up. He is giving the trailer to a family that recently lost their house, so I was excited to know the trailer wont be sold for scrap metal! :)

So, with the sale of the trailer we will be paying off some debt and also splurging on a few things. Which means, I get a new couch. :) We ordered one on saturday when we went shopping at pier1. It is a sleeper sofa, so will also give us an extra bed for company. While I have been forever grateful for our blue couch (it really is in great condition!) I am excited to get a contemporary piece of furniture. :) As soon as it comes in I will be sure and post pictures. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks!

We also bought this papasan chair, and while I always thought they were too big... I sat in one on saturday at pier1... I fell in love. They are soo perfect for lounging. Jaydon and I can both squeeze in it! Although I worry it will eventually give out on us! :) Ok, well I have also been SUPRE busy working on some more abstract pieces of art. I am so happy with the new direction my style seems to be going.

8 facts about me:

1) I worked at a Chevrolet dealership for three years and drove a 91 Ford mustang GT convertible. Needless to say, the salesman liked to pick on me. :)

2) After meeting Jaydon (my husband) we got engaged three weeks later, and married three months after that. I never imagined myself doing that, getting married so quickly. But, after meeting him... we knew we were meant to be together. What would be the point in waiting?

We are coming up on our 4 year engagement the 18th of next month. :) My poor family and friends, they thought I was nuts!

3) I love to bake, dessert mostly.... Although, it seems as though I have not done NEARLY as much as I used to. I think my urge tends to come out more in the winter months. :)

4) I have never lived outside the state of Washington. When we were engaged, we weren't sure where we were going to live. Since Jaydon was currently living in Grand Junction, CO. it was going to be there or here in the tri-cities area (where I was born and raised) At the time, I had actually hoped it would work out for us to live in co. It seemed like such an adventure! But, it ended up that he felt we were supposed to be here. Now, when I think of ever leaving... it seems scary! I suppose, when and if we have to cross that bridge I can deal with it then! :)

5) I would LOVE to buy two lhasa apso puppies, raise them and breed them. They are the most adroable dogs. We had a Lhasa mix when we first got married, and it was the neatest dog imaginable! We taught him *rocket* the coolest tricks! Let me dig up a picture... hee hee *dig* up a pic! ;)

6) I started homeschooling my 9th grade year. It just seemed right at the time, and I do not regret it one bit. :)

7) I am SCARED to death of spiders! Fortunately growing up, I was blessed with a little brother that was ever so kind as to kill them for me, whenever I spotted one. Now, I have a super sweet husband that does it for me, and NEVER complains. :)

8) I am the proud mommy to a little angel named Trinity. She will turn three this November! She really has been an unusually mild mannered and polite child. Even when she was a baby... she rarely ever cried, and really spoiled ME. I fear that with our next one (whenever that will be ;) I am going to not have things so easy, and it will a culture shock for me. :)

Wow... okthat was 8 random, (and not so interesting) things about me. :) Now, I am supposed to tag 8 ppl. Do I really have to? I have been tagging ppl all of last month (or so it seems) everyone is going to LOVE me. :) It doesnt help that I have such a small circle of friends. ;)

Enagement pictures

Wheeew! 600+ pictures later, and ALOT of editing... has yielded these results. A few of mine, Roman, and Shaela's favorites. I am so thrilled with how they turned out. Roman and Shaela were up for anything, and really were good troopers! :) It was somewhat awkward at the laudnry mat. There were a few other people there, and needless to say... I think they enjoyed the free entertainment. We quickly took our pictures there, and I have to say... despite the conditions, I think they turned out great. :)

The grocery store was a blast too! We had to keep an eye out for the produce guy. Or rather he was keeping an eye out for us. :) Definitly made some memories to go right along with these pictures! It was fun, and I am glad we have a few good ones.

Ok... on to the September drawing stuff. This month I have chosen freedom to be the winning print. Please see here for all the rules regarding the contest. :)

Roman and Shaela are engaged! I took their engagement pictures yesterday, and I am so thrilled with how they turned out. these are my favorites from the bunch. My first ever storyboard. Roman and Shaela were such good troopers. :) They were up for ALL my crazy ideas! I will post more pictures later, I am still editing a few of our favorites from the 600+ that I took. I will be sure and post more in the next couple days!

Leafscape

Yesterday I was asked if a companion print to leafscape, would ever make its way to etsy. Because I loved working with leafscape, I decided to do just that. So, here it is. It still does not feel completely finished to me. I am going to take a break from it, and come back later. Maybe then I will know just what it is missing.

I am also working on another illustration inspired by shannon. It will feature a cat and a bird in love... "opposites attract" :) Thanks for the great idea shannon!

Also, preparing (cleaning) my house today. Tomorrow, my sister, brother-in-law and niece will be visiting from California. Also, my brother and fiancee (I cant believe I forgot to post about their recent engagement!) will be here for the three day weekend. She will be staying with us for the weekend, along with my sister and her family. This should be fun, and a little interesting! Our house is just under 1,000 sq. ft. So, we will all be very warm and cozy! :)

I am planning to take Roman and Shaela's engagement pictures. I have been brainstorming a TON of ideas, and I cant wait to try them all out on the two of them. I will be sure and post a collection of my favorites on here! :)

The above picture is the "after" pleeease keep in mind, that this was no way near what it looked like before I organized! I filled two garbage bags with clothes to be donated. So, please do not think I am a super organized freak. :)

I think my urge to declutter has been brought on by the chillier evenings. Fall is coming, and with that the new fall fashions. I need to make room for all those new spiffy styles! Besides, when it comes to the point that I dread getting completely get caught up on my laundry, because I have no empty hangers, or lack of hanging space... its time to do something about it!

So, today I am going to get caught up on my laundry! :) Fortunately we still have a very small family, so keeping up with the laundry is somewhat of an easy task. I also have a little girl that hates to get dirty, and that definitly helps me out some!

Speaking of fall fashions... I can't help but wonder what colors will be in. I did a little digging, and found this on EZINE:

"The summer colors tended toward fun and bright turquoises, pinks, and greens. We are going to warm things up and tone down a bit with the fall selection. No matter what color names the designers give them, the trend this year is very much in the gold tones. Burgandy, rust, wine, camel, and dark chocolate brown.

However the two hot colors for fall are purple and green. The green is a continuation of the summer, but warmed up a bit with burnt olives, celeries, and a darker celadon. We expect green to be around for another season or so. The trend color of the season is purple and the warmer the purple the better."

I love green, and purple and green together sounds like an interesting color combo. One I wouldnt think to put together! But, am now excited to try. I think it has inspired me to try the colors on a new illustration. :)

A weeks worth of photos!

So, tomorrow will be my first week into project 365. It has not always been easy to take a picture for each day. But it is soo rewarding to stick with it. :) The above picture is my favorite for the week. My parents are putting their house up for sale. So, I finally had to go and take down all 43+ packs of stars. It was a BIG job, I also had about a 1,000 small sticker stars on the ceiling and slightly down the walls. Trin helped us pick them off the floor, and put them in this copper colored basket like thing. :)

It looked awesome at night, and was really nifty to get to see a falling star while lying in bed. But, I suppose all good things must come to an end? I still have them all, but it may take me a few months to forget how much of a pain it was to take them down. Maybe by then, I will decide to hang them in Trin's room. However, we do have 9.6' tall ceilings... it may take me a year to be stupid enough to decide to attempt hanging them! :)

-Oh and for the record, should you find yourself in my situation... a stiff plastic spatula works really well in taking the stars down! :)

A week from today, "chirp away" will be in the mail and on its way to grace one lucky winner's wall. There is only 5 days left to get in on the August drawing. So, I had a great mail day today! I had a couple of things from etsy come in the mail, and I couldnt be more thrilled with them. I knew I just had to share with all of you!

First... these super adorable "dragon feet" from justkiddn of etsy. The feet are for Shandi. When Tamara was pregnant she had a dream that she had given birth to a dragon. It was a pretty cute joke, and when I seen these, I knew Shandi needed a pair. They are meant to be frog feet, but hey... they work as a dragon feet, right? :) This is actually my third purchase from justkiddn. I bought my niece Jenna a pair of the oasobi booties, and Ashton a pair of the duck feet. They are very reasonably priced at 10.00. The feet are a little more at 12.00. An exclellent price for something handmade with attention to detail, and super quick shipping. She happens to also be here in Washington, which is an added bonus! :) Definitly a shop worth checking out. I recommend her very highly. You can find justkiddn's shop here:

My second thing... this vintage/modern pencil case from Elliotspigeons all the way in Australia. I was thrilled to have found this store while browsing the treasury on etsy. I loved the choice of fabrics, (although it made choosing ONE hard!) and was excited to have the honor of being this shops first sale. :) I am sure I am the first of many more to come. I have been needing a new way to carry my drawing pencils. You can see my "before" and understand what I mean. It was working... but how stylish is that?

I condensed the pencils down to my essentials. My 2b pencils, an eraser, and my pens. It is so much better on the eyes, and I can proudly whip it out whenever inspiration hits. I have to admit, this pencil case is inspiring me to draw now as I write this. What an amazing friend, packs my "tools" around for me, and even inspires me at the same time? Life is good. :) You can see Elliotspigeons here...

"First off I would like to thank Mary for choosing me to receive this award. I feel they're are plenty of other people who deserve this award more so then me. Second, my parents for raising me to have a soft heart. My sister who constantly tried my "niceness" and made me the super nice person I am today. I also couldnt possibly forget that geeky boy I "dated" in 5th grade. He taught me a valuable lesson... dont go out with a boy just because you dont want to hurt his feelings. You always end up being the opposite of "nice" when you break up anyway. :D"

Really though, thanks mary! It was uber sweet of you to think of me. So, now I am supposed to pass the torch so to speek. I am off to award a couple ladies myself.

Tara Her blogging posts, have really been an inspiration to me. She reminds me of the small things in life that truly do matter. :)

Shannon Since she joined etsy a short time after me, we have helped each other learn the ropes. I have enjoyed her blog, and it has helped keep the distance between us from seeming... well... far away. :)

I started on this illustration a week ago, and have only now finished it up. I suppose I took my time on it, a little more so then normal. I tried a couple different variations, before finally becoming thrilled with how this one turned out.

I have wanted to work with cherry blossoms for awhile now, and loved incorporating a japanese/asian inspired birdcage. I think I will probably be doing another one sometime soon! :)

Today I am going to be getting a few prints ready to mail out to projectgrabbag. She will be selling my prints/pocket mirrors at an artists co-op (along side her softies) in IL. She is super sweet for volunteering to do so! Well, I told her they would be ready to go out tomorrow morning, so I best get to printing! :) Have a great Thursday everyone!!

This is what I have been busy with lately. I am working on this little book for baby Shandi. The book will be a counting book. It will only go to 6... and these white birds will represent each number. Now... I know she is too little to count, but mainly I wanted to give her a super sweet gift that Tamara can save for her. :)

Each page will have the addition of one bird (the last page is shown) and the clouds will also move ever so slightly to the right, as if to show the passing of time. I hope it turns out. I will be sure and post some pictures when I get a little further with it. :)

project365- One photo a day for an entire year.

I seen this flickr group yesterday, and was so excited to follow along. :) I enlisted the help of shannon, and hopefully we will keep each other motivated to stick with it. It would be so neat at the end of the year to print out 365 thumbnail sized pictures representing each day of my life. Of course, I am sure I will have days where the last thing I want to do is take a picture... I guess we will see. My hopes is that by posting about here, you can help me stick with it as well! :) I plan to blog about my favorite photo/day of the week, every week... on monday. So, you should know if I am slacking.... ;)

I have been a big fan of the 365 group where you take a self portait of you for every day of the year... but there is no way I could do that. :) So, when I seen this group... it seemed perfect!

Welcome baby Shandi!

Last night I got a new niece, and became a cousin at the same time. :) It is pretty funny, because my first cousin... ended up marrying my brother in law. So I am double related! My new little niece, "Shandi" is adorable. Weighing in at 6 lbs 2 oz, and 19" long. Brandon and Tamara are living in California, so I haven't got to meet her yet. We are planning a trip that way in October, so we will have to wait to see her till then. I am sure my aunt will keep us stocked up with new recent pictures. :)

I took 2,000 digital pictures of our little girl within her first year of life. With the next one, I am sure I will double that... since I am sporting a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) instead of a little point and shoot. :) Seeing the pictures of Shandi is giving me the new baby bug...

On that note... Trin is *almost* potty trained. It is the absolute weirdest thing, I thought after we were all through with this cold flu junk, I would crack down on her... and dedicate "myself" to potty training her. Well, her second day being sick she came and told me she needed to go 6 times that day!? I felt so bad for her, but she was inisisting! :) I think because she wasnt playing like she normally does, she was alot more aware of it. PLUS, she seen the pictures of Haylie going potty on Mary's blog... and that definitly sparked a chord with her. :) So, thank you Mary!!

Well, I am still coughing and feeling lowsy. I cant believe how long this stuff hangs on.... I think I am going to crawl back into bed. It sounds really goooood. :)

Green

After being cooped up inside these past few days... It felt so nice to walk out to the garden this morning. Very re-juvenating. :) The re-juvenation feeling quickly left when I realized just how much I have let things go out there! My pumpkins are completely taking over. I planted them with a trellis, like last year. They are pie pumpkins, but are getting so big! I have yet to see one break off the vine. It amazes me just how strong those vines can be. :) Last year I used panty hose and tied them up. I missed one, and was surpised to see it didnt need the support. I am most definitly going to make my fences further apart next year.

...and my tomatoes? Where do I begin, I planted them waaay to close together, they are huge, and growing really nice. But, I cant seem to find my pepper plants anymore. They were planted in the same box right along with the tomatoes. Another "no no" for next year. Oh well, I learn something new each year. Now I understand the term a "seasoned gardener" :)

I also finished an orchid illustration. Two more to go! :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend, AND monday. :) We have been sick these past few days, so our weekend could have certainly been a little better... but I think everyone is on the tail end of the "bug" so I am thankful for that!

I wanted to give a special thanks for Liana of Mixed Plate. She was kind enough to feature "Chocolate Chip Mint" on her blog this last Friday. I was thrilled, and definitly aprpeciated the recognition. :) Thanks Liana.

Well, being sick these past few days has given me plenty of time to sit around the house with my clipboard and paper. I have three new drawings ready to be transferred to the computer. All three of them are orchids, so I am excited to get started on them. However, being sick has caused me to become behind on a few things. So, I really doubt I will get much done today. Look here for an update tomorrow. :)

I really enjoyed working on this illustration, it brought back a TON of memories from childhood. I can still remember being excited to see a dandelion waiting to be picked. Working on this reminded me of how much joy the simple pleasures of life can bring you. Toddler to adult, regardless of age. I think we just need to reminded a little more as adults. I know I do. :)

I also began work on this new series yesterday, I havent decided what to call it yet... I have my first illustration in the series just about finished though, so I better decide quick! :)

I love Ross and T.J. Maxx. It is almost impossible to not find at least one steal of a deal when you visit.... which actually may not be a good thing. :)

Today mom and I made our bi-weekly grocery trip to Tri-Cities. Of course, you cant drive all the way to Tri-Cities and come back with "only" groceries!

So, a quick (yeah right) trip into T.J. Maxx resulted in this purchase. I LOVE the woodgrain modern look of the frame, and loved that It had been marked down not once, but twice! :) I think it will look great in my living room, with my ever growing collection of art. When I get it up, I will be sure and post a picture. :)

I *just* completed this illustration. It feels so nice to see it finished. Hopefully this should be available in my etsy store today. I still need to print it, and photograph it printed, and unfortunately... I need to wait until my lovely husband to come home. He makes for such a nice model. :)

This print will be printed on 13x19 sized glossy canon photo paper. The image itself is sized at 11x14. I do plan to offer it an 8x10. I may have that listed before the larger size. :)

Also working on the pocket mirrors!! I just finished up a photoshoot with all of them. Still need to complete the listing, but they should be available today as well! :)

I just finished this illustration, and listed it my etsy store. I am so thrilled with how it turned out. I think it just may be a new favorite. :)

Doing the background on this, was very time consuming. I used multiple layers, and finally achieved what you see. :)

I have been so inspired lately to work with peacock feathers. I have absolutely no idea where the craving came from, but its no wonder why. Peacock feathers are gorgeous... well this is where my inspiration and craving led me. The curliness just seemed right, but hardly peacock-ish. Which actually turns out better for me... because I am really anxious to incorporate a few other peacock elements into a new illustration. I may try to incorporate words into the tail somehow. But, before i start on another illustration I need to finish up "Freedom" and this one. :)

I had an inquiry to include "Freedom" in a non-profit youth diary featuring art from various artists. I was flattered, and will probably accept. I will an update on that later!

Speaking of words... I think people are missing the word "love" in the bark. I cant decide if I should try to make it a little more prominent? Or if it is better to have it be somewhat hidden...

We went to the Washington coast for the weekend, had a great time. Although it was overcast the WHOLE time! I took over 200 pictures, and I am too lazy to wait for them to download to my computer. I will try and get some pictures up tomorrow. :)

Just added this to my etsy store today! I loved the purple with the ttvf effect. It made it look so timeless. I have a few of these square formatted ttvf prints framed. I will try and get a good picture to list. I am sure it is hard to really picture just how it will look framed with the black border.

I have a few variations of this illustration in the works. I have spent hours over the past few days working on this illustration in an 11x14 poster size. I will go ahead and give everyone a sneek peek...

New Illustration and an update...

Here is my newest Illustration, "Bound to You." I only recently considered that this illustration could be perceived and viewed two ways. One that these two are willingly and lovingly committed and bout to each other. Or two... they are bound by obligation, and things of the past that seem to weigh them down.

When I created the illustration it was with the idea that they were lovingly bound to each other. At first I thought I should change the title to "Lovingly Bound to You" But the more I think about it, I suppose Art is in the eye of the beholder. Should I leave it "generic" in hopes that you can relate to it personally? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. :)

Now for the update... Remember my entry awhile back about our litter of kittens. The three we were GOING to give away? Well, yep you guessed it we kept him. He is growing so fast, and is very beautiful. Thought you would enjoy a newer picture of him.

I am almost done with this piece. :) The past few months I have been really inspired to sit down and draw a few birdcages. I think I enjoyed it even more then I thought I would! I have also been itching to use theses blue and red colors together. These colors were inspired by this picture taken and blogged by Holly of decor8 . Her blog, and flickr favorites, has probably been my greatest source of inspiration, as of late. :)

I cannot hardly believe I am longing for spring already. I could understand it a little better....if it were say October. But, July?

The summer is flying by (more so then usual) and I feel as though I have not done much of anything to enjoy it! I have been able to tinker around in my garden, but not as much as usual.

I hate when life gets too busy. Hopefully our rental will sale in the next couple of weeks, and we will have much more free time! We have already had a couple cash offers. It is just a matter of waiting for the best one! :)

Well, I have a few more orders to finish up and get ready before the mailman comes. Then, maybe I can squeeze in a little time to take Trinity outside, and let her enjoy a popsicle. :)

My little one is down for a nap so I went outside to get some much needed cleaning done. :) My poor little greenhouse needed is soo badly! I was able to give it a good hose down, and also stack all of my old plastic pots. The terra cotta pots also needed emptied and stacked for next spring. It seems so hard to believe, they have already served their purpose this year.

Well, I have had the sprinkler going, and thought I would take a quick break from the heat, share some pictures with you and update my blog. :) BUT, I must get some more weeding done!

I added another trailer to the "I heart sweet home series" Its been fun, I think I may temproarily take a break from this series, and start on a collection of black and white/red modern style trailers. They are so much fun to create. :) Now that I have four completed, they should be ready tobe sent over to allisonsphotography. Look for some coasters appearing SOON! :)

After working on this one, I am as always... hungry for something sweet! I cant help but wonder why I began titling these the way I did! :)

I also added another pirate print to my Illustrated through the viewfinder series. That means I can finally print up my film strip print! :) I will post a picture as soon as I do!

I am really excited to introduce my Through the View Finder Illustrated series. I have been having SO much fun, combining my duaflex camera and illustrations. :) I have tried my hand at through the view finder photography... and not quite got the hang of it yet. So, when I see the results I got trying this out, I was THRILLED! :)

The three pictured are already in my store. BUT, I have plans for a larger size (8x16") film strip linking three or more of these illustrations together. I hope to get this listed sometime next week. :) Check back here for updates, though.

blogger has now introduced a new feature... the ability to conduct a survey, how exciting! I plan to try and use this tool to help create art, a little more customized to your personal prefences. :)

I am going to start the first poll off with colors. The poll will run for 2 weeks, exactly and then I will begin a new survey. Please select the colors you decorate with most. Maybe this will inspire me to create a new piece based upon your color choices! :)

Oh- and if you dont see a color listed please drop me a comment here, I will add it ASAP. I KNOW I missed some, its still fairly early.. and I am in a bit of a hurry. :) Also, feel free to describe your choices here a little more in depth.

Pistachio Ice Cream

Yeah! A new trailer has been added to the fleet, and one more to come by monday. :) You can see it here . Pistachio Ice Cream was inspired by my wonderful husband. It amazes me, how much he can inspire me... by even saying a couple of words, or rambling some random thought. I guess we are kind of like butter and popcorn. We bring out the best in each other. :)

Tuesday night I showed him my sketch of the trailer, and asked him what came to mind. After a couple seconds of staring at the sketch... he says " I dunno... it needs a bike.. or a moped." Of course, all of a sudden I am like "why did I not think of that?" But, that thought only lasted a minute because I was so excited to get back to my drawing.... finally seeing it as it should be, with a bike!

Well, an update on my garden... Let me just say that I lasted an hour in the heat, before I had to come in... and well I kind of ended up staying in. :) BUT! I did get my shelf (filled with my craft supplies) 90% finished! So, that was good at least. This picture was taken before weeding... I promise! :)

I must admit though... I am somewhat of a scaredy cat when it comes to spiders... and in the hour I was outside, I seen 7 daddy long legged spiders in my garden! 7! eeeww... now, I know daddy long leg spiders are supposed to be good for your garden. They apparently eat all the bad bugs, and I think even black widow spiders, (or maybe my dad told me that as a kid so I wouldnt mind them so much) so you can almost think of them as super heroes for your garden. BUT, I get the heebie jeebies every time I see one!

A lesson re-learned from yesterday... mom knows best. As a kid, to give me incentive to keep my room clean, and clutter-free... she told me that a messy room gave spiders places to hide. And that I would most definitly have more spiders in my room if it were messy rather then clean. Needless to say, I had a clean room all the time. well there was an occasional spell of laziness... but never for very long!

Anyway, my point is... my garden is alot like that right now. waaay too many places for the 8 legged fiends to hide. I definitly have more incentive to keep it weeded now. The next time I go out there, I am wearing tennis shoes to protect my vulnerable feet from creepy crawling things. Oh, and did you know you can spray aerosol hair spray at a spider at stop him in his tracks? Yep, thats what I have heard... I intend to test that. Armed with tennis shoes, garden gloves, and a can of aerosol spray... they wont know what hit them! Well, I just may try that... tomorrow. :)

I have been neglecting my garden. ALOT. I have soo many weeds threatening to take over...that I am afraid this will turn into an ALL day job.

So, I am going to fill up Trinitys pool, throw on her swimming suit, head outside... and start pulling those weeds!

Project Organize has been along time coming! I have needed to organize my little space here for quite a while. :)

This little shelf is housing the magority of my paper, craft supplies and etsy packaging. :) I am hoping that by posting these pictures... I can maybe get motivated and committed to finally organizing it! I will most definitly post new pictures once I do. You know... proof that I do follow through with what I say I will... ;)

oh yes... and complete with labels!! I love labeling things. :)

Turtle Love

Yeah! After much time spent trying to get the colors to my liking, I finally finished this... at about 1:00 AM to be exact. :) I really like how she turned out. I almost think I like it better cropped, with her face and the turtle in detail. I may end up offering this in a cropped version as well, if there appears to be some interest towards it.

The inspiration behind her was pretty non-existant. I grabbed my clipboard, laid on the floor and just started drawing... the skecth of the girl, immediately looked as though she was looking sweetly at something. It only seemed right that there be something in her hands. I tried workin with a bunny, and I just wasnt feeling it. So, came the turtle idea... and I loved how they worked out. :)

I also made cookies last night. I like my cookies soft and chewy.... and these were more like milk dunking cookies. They were just a little more cooked then I like them. But, they do turn out to be PERFECT for dunking cookies! They can soak up a ton of milk, and not crumble into your glass of milk. Although, it is always a nice surprise to see your pieces of cookies at the bottom of your milk glass! Although, now that I think about it...I am sure that probably grosses some people out. :)
